What are some special Indian dishes? (Discussion)

I’m not overly familiar with Indian dishes and customs, so I was just wondering if anyone could help me out. What are the most special Indian dishes and desserts that you could make, especially around holiday or festival seasons?

I guess what I’m asking is, what’s your equivalent of turkey on Thanksgiving or hot chocolate for cold winter nights?
