Alphonso & Other Types of Mangoes (Discussion)

We bought a box of delicious “Alphonso” mangoes recently… they came straight from India, and were a lot different than the mangoes we usually get from Mexico. Are Alphonsos what most people eat in India, or are there different types?

Alphonso or Haapoos is one of the best in terms of sweetness and flavor. It is also one of the most expensive kinds of mango and is grown mainly in western India.
