My healthy breakfast power bar

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and often also the most ignored one. Many of us just skip the breakfast because we "run out of time". Some of us, on the other hand, munch on all the unhealthy junk in the name of a "fulfilling" breakfast.

So, if you are just one of those very busy people on the earth, or are health freak like me or just looking to try out something new, here is my recipe for a healthy breakfast power bar.

Ingredients: De-seeded dates, jagerry, cow's ghee (clarified butter), nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnuts whatever u like), sesame seeds, flax seeds.

Recipe: Take some cow's ghee on a heating pan. Heat for a while about 15 seconds and then add some jagerry to it. Stir the mixture on a low flame till all the jagerry melts and the mixture becomes consistent.
Now add the nuts together with the dates (pun intended ;-) ) . Stir it for a while, make sure u cover every date and nut with the mixture. Pour out the mixture in a bar shaped mold or just on a simple plate if u aren't worried about the appearance. Sprinkle half spoonful of sesame seeds and flax seeds on it. Let it cool for a few minutes and then enjoy!

Nutritional Info: This recipe is rich in calories. Hey wait, didn't i say "Healthy" ? Yes, i did. Let me explain. First of all there is no "unhealthy" fats or trans fats in this recipe which is abound in any processed food. All it has is the good saturated and unsaturated fats from ghee and nuts, and omega-3 fatty acids from flax seeds. Carbs here chiefly comes from jagerry and dates. You also get lots of protein from ghee and nuts particularly almonds. So this bar is sure to give you all the energy you need to kick start you day.

Now lets talk about the building blocks of good health, yes, the vitamins and minerals. Many fitness experts say that taking a handful of a variety of nuts, is like taking multi-vitamin food supplement.

And dates, people of desert are known to survive for days eating just this little thing !

Warning: If you have a very high cholesterol or are too obese, its not for you.

This is really very energetic healthy recipie. As it contains jaggery, so it is really very good for those who are suffering from deficiency of hemoglobin.

Thanks for this awesome lesson! I’ve never made my own power bar before. But what’s a “jaggery”?

Thanks! So Jaggery is unrefined sugar. All types of the sugar come in blocks or pastes of solidified concentrated sugar syrup heated to 200°C. They also contain more mineral salts than regular unrefined sugar. Indian Ayurvedic medicine considers jaggery to help with throat and lung infections.
