"Healthy Juices"

Juice is a liquid naturally contained in fruit or vegetables tissue. Juice is prepared by mechanically squeezing or macerating fresh fruits or vegetables without application of heat or solvents. For example, orange juice is the liquid extract of the fruit of the orange tree. Juice may be prepared in the home from fresh fruits and vegetables using variety of hand or electric juicers. Many commercial juices are filtered to remove fiber or pulp, but high pulp fresh orange juice is a popular beverage.



Orange Juice
  • Tightly squeeze or roll the orange with the palm of your hand across the able to soften them.
  • Cut the orange in half pieces and remove the seeds.
  • Grip the one half of the orange tightly and squeeze it by hand, using a plain juicer to get juice out. It is the best to use and electric orange juicer, as you will get much more juice from the orange and into the glass.
  • Scrape the orange with a spoon and add fruit directly to juice if you use a hand juice for more pulp. If you prefer clear juice, pour the juice through a strainner before drinking.
  • Drink and enjoy a cold glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
  • One orange juice contains about 50 mg of Vitamin C. That is about 2/3 of our daily need.
  • Fresh homemade orange juice is an excellent source of calcium.


Water Melon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped seeded watermelon.
  • 1 cup crushed ice.
  • 2 tsp honey.
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper.
  • fresh mint (optional garnish)
Direction
  • Combine watermelon, ice, honey and black pepper in a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Garnish with mint.
  • Serve chilled.
  • Stir well before serving.
Oxidative stress in humans is associated with damage to D.N.A, proteins, and biological membranes. Oxidative stress, which often arises as a result of an imbalance in the human antioxident status, has been implicated in aging and a number of human diseases such as cancer, antherosclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Watermelon contains high concentrations lycopene, an antioxidant, that may help reduce the risks of diseases related to oxidative stress.



Carrot Juice

Ingredients
  • Place 2 pounds (1 kg) of clean carrots in a blender or food processor. Process until finely chopped or mashed. (One may have to add a small amount of water if the carrots are not very moist).
  • Pour mixture into a large glass measuring cup and add 2 cups (500 ml) hot water.
  • Let mixture stand for 15 to 30 mintues.
  • Strain the juice into a 2 quart (2L) pitcher.
  • (Optional, but tasty) Add the juice of 2 oranges.
  • (Optional ) Fill pitcher with water.
  • Serve over ice.

  • Carrots are excellent for the eyes.
  • Carrots contains large quantities of vitamin A, in the form of carotene.


Mango Juice

Ingredients

  • 1 large can of readymade mango pulp or ( pulp from 6 large fresh mangoes).
  • 1 tsp elaichi (cardamom), poweder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
  • Water.
Method
  • Blend together all the above ingredients for about 1 minute in a food processor or blender.
  • Mix in water depending on the consistency of the juice you want.
  • Chill.
  • Serve garnished with a mint leaf. (Optional)

Mixed Fruit Juice- Delicious fruit juice made from different fruits like Orange, apple, pomergranate.

Ingredients
  • Apple 1/2 cup
  • Pineapple 1/2 cup
  • Orange 1/2 cup
  • Banana 1/2 cup
  • Pomergranate 1/2 cup
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 2 tsp
Method

Cut all the fruits into small pieces. Add sugar and water to the fruit mixture. Put into the mixer grinder. Blend them nicely and add more water if needed. Serve chilled.

A regular intake of fruit and vegetables is essential for maintaining good health and keeping fit.
